Author Self Publishes a Book on President Obama as a Global Inspiration

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Gianna on 10-01-2009

Philip Ephraim self publishes a book depicting President Barack Obama as an inspiration not only to American citizenry but also to people from different countries all over the world in ‘Barack Obama, The Audacity of Inspiring the World’.

The book author underscores how President Obama’s ‘yes we can’ mantra positively energizes and influences people from different walks of life in different countries.

“His generational appeal shatters age and geographic limits. The impact of his unique qualities and likeliness is felt by every one in every nation. He doesn’t only stir up political activism, build coalition, but unleashes energy for creativity and personal positive ambition,” Ephraim says.

The self published book attempts to highlight President Obama’s symbolic significance being an icon of boundless possibility and hope not only among Americans but also among different groups of people coming from different ages and social status in different countries.

“He has inspired public service in the young and political involvement in the old, thus brining back to the fold those who were politically apathetic and cynical… He summons the better angels in us,” Ephraim says in the preface of his self published book.

Philip Ephraim has written extensively in international journals including A Review of Qualitative and Quantitative Measures in Collection Analysis and ERIC, the database initiative of the US Department of Education.

The author is formerly a Senior Librarian at the University of Calabar, a consultant Law Librarian to the African Development Bank, consultant to Bobel International and Associate Ltd., and After School Leader in the Andorra Library in Philadelphia. Jay Smith Presents His Side of the Famous Murder Case in Self Published Book

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Gianna on 11-12-2008

Self-published author Jay Smith defends his case by pointing out the collaborators who framed him for the murders that placed him in jail.

Just because you are the Upper Merion High School principal doesn’t mean the law gives you free reign over its mandate.

Self-published author Jay Smith was that Upper Merion High School Principal. He was sentenced to death in 1986 and spent six years on Pennsylvania’s death row for the murders of Upper Merion teacher Susan Reinert and her children. Jay is the only person to receive a double-jeopardy decision in a capital case and was released when the Supreme Court dismissed his case. He aims to redeem himself by making his story known to the public.

In the self-published book, Joseph Wambaugh and the Jay Smith Case, Smith names another Upper Merion teacher William Bradfield, the state police investigators and the case’s prosecutor, and Joseph Wambaugh, the California crime writer as the collaborators responsible for placing him behind bars. “A frame-up” is an understatement because, as Smith asserts, the evidence privy to help his acquittal was concealed.

The author refutes in this Xlibris release everything that he was wrongfully accused of, and lambasted Joseph Wambaugh as the prime mover of the entire operation. Readers will be enlightened at the events that transpired as Smith describes them in detail.  One event exposed in the book is the emergence of hard evidence through a “junkman” who uprooted stems of documents stashed in the house of the state prosecutor, who apparently hoped to hide everything along with Smith’s innocence.

Smith says that even if he was a likely candidate because of a few accidental brushes with law, it was not enough for people to point their fingers at him. Joseph Wambaugh and the Jay Smith Case is an expression of the author’s suppressed cries for justice and freedom, which he was deprived of during his time in prison. He battled for the people’s unbiased understanding and judgment and is now fighting for an end to death penalty.

Waking Maya by Warren Goldie

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Gianna on 26-11-2008

I believe that you create your own reality – that is, events of your life aren’t random occurrences. Things don’t just happen to you; everything comes from you. I believe that there is purpose everywhere, even if you don’t see it or can’t figure it out, and even when things appear to make no sense.”

Warren Goldie, the author of self-published book Waking Maya, expressed his philosophies in life with a passion that is evident in his love for nature, his daughter Meghan and the cosmos.

“Some people believe the universe is a chaotic, meaningless affair, that the soul has no reality, that physical life is all there is,” he explained. “If that is your view then you live each day with the thought that one day you will be annihilated. I believe in the continuation of consciousness after death, that I’m in some kind of ongoing process, and so that view affects my decisions.

This spiritual inspiration generated the impetus for Warren Goldie to author Waking Maya. He culled to write a book for her when thoughts on how he would spend his last days on Earth came to his mind just before his daughter was born. Warren said Waking Maya is a kind of extended personal letter for his daughter. He hoped that she might be able to use them someday seeing that the book employs everything that he strongly has faith in.

The different permutations taking place in the physical world gradually becomes evident as readers experience Waking Maya page after page. This new age mystery Goldie is trying to portray weaves through a young woman’s search for truth, meaning, and adventure that profligates into an unveiling of life’s puzzles that one did not know existed not unless the reader gets to travel along with the character. The best way to deal with this folly is to materialize such a personal and intimate journey by sharing it to the public.

Warren Goldie, the writer who is famous for his essays on consciousness and human potential published in famous publications, had been scouring around for companies to get Waking Maya published and his search led him to meet someone who showed him his self-published poetry book by Xlibris. He liked how it turned out and hired Xlibris to publish his book.

“I liked the idea that I would control the rights,“ Warren claimed. “With self-publishing, you have control of the project. No one but you can change the book or the cover art. You determine what is in it, how it looks, and how you can sell it, etc. Another thing is you must be patient with the process because there are a lot of steps. You should make sure your book is completely ready when you start the process. If I wanted to sell to a traditional publisher at some point I could do that.”

Warren was satisfied with how Xlibris produced Waking Maya and admitted to how professional the entire production process went from the publication services to the people who handled his book. Traditional publisher or not, he said that self-publishing companies should be efficient, efficacious with producing quality products, and resourceful on distributing the book for sale especially to bigwig resellers like Amazon.com.

Goldie’s self-published book tapped into the serious artery of the human psyche and Amazon.com is not the only one who took notice of the book’s feasibility. BookReview.com rated Waking Maya as a Must Read and wasawarded as Book of the Month.

“Reading it triggers knowledge you hold within yourself, it resonates with the truths buried deep inside, and awakens parts of you by allowing you to remember that you already knew all of this.”

– BookReview.com

The author’s penchant for the far-ranging theories will lull readers to change the way they think about the natural discourse called life. Not only readers will take interest into metaphysical ideas through a fun and engaging story but also define metaphysics as a context through characters that they can relate to even if they have never even heard of the concept.

Self-published author Warren Goldie currently gives talks about the book. Waking Maya is for sale at Amazon, Xlibris, Barnes & Noble and Borders at local bookstores in Boulder, Colorado, where he lives.

Self-published book Hold On! Life is Precious Strengthens Our Faith in God

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Gianna on 25-11-2008

Life is a journey we trek only once and time travels so fast that treasured moments are gone before we can even think of them.  Nevertheless, we always have the option to stop, be still and start looking at the wonderful things around us.

This is the heart of Dr. Kay L. Jurgenson’s self-published book Hold On! Life is Precious! an anthology of short stories that revolves around five themes reflecting the book author’s own journey in life.

Each theme brings to light how our busy lives make us miss the lessons from ordinary things we always take for granted.  Dr. Jurgenson includes stories about the wonder of life, the obstacles we must all deal with, our connectedness with our global family, our faith in God, believing that in Him all things are possible, and the humor we need for us to laugh in times of trouble when we must not take life too seriously.

The profundity of the author’s life puts substance to her stories. She is a wide traveler to more than 30 countries, a Peace Corp Volunteer for 2 years, a pastor and chaplain for over 12 years, a high school teacher, and a daughter of editors and publishers of a local newspaper in Minnesota. The life Dr. Jurgenson is living through ushers her journey as a self-published book author.

The publishing of Hold On! Life is Precious! was inspired by an old picture of the book author and her brother riding a tricycle when they were still little children. Dr. Jurgenson mused, “Time and again as I stopped to view the picture, I was reminded of beauty and simplicity of life… So I began to write.  The stories came, one after another. Each story brought another person, event or happening to mind. I wrote how grateful I was to be alive at this time in history and to be part of such extraordinary changes, which have occurred since those two little people rode that tricycle.”

She searched online for a book publishing company that would suit her needs and found Xlibris, whose excellent publishing services pleased her.  Dr. Jurgenson shares her experience with an Xlibris Customer Service Representative: “She was an excellent listener, and thorough in her questions and answers.  She expressed real interest in me and my book…

Hold On! Life is Precious! is available at Xlibris, Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com.

Self Published Author, Felicia LaGrant Signs Her Love Letters to Jesus

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Gianna on 18-11-2008

The self published book, Love Letters to Jesus, was initially written as a journal of author Felicia LaGrant’s thoughts of joy and sorrow to Jesus. At first feeling strange and foolish about the exercise, she later on realized that there was a greater purpose for writing her correspondence to the Almighty.

Continuing her letter writing and developing a routine for it helped LaGrant find focus and rhythm in her task of finishing her divine assignment of expressing gratitude to God. However, as she pursued this course, she was met with opposition in the form of pressure, frustration and discouragement – all designed to make her give up writing letters to Jesus.

In pursuit of her goal of encouraging others, LaGrant eventually found herself guided toward the completion of her book. Love Letters to Jesus became the result of the compiled pieces of correspondence she had written, which she published with the book publishing company, Xlibris.
