Superheroes Take the Spotlight in Xlibris Novel

The question, “What happens when superheroes in retirement come out of hiding?” becomes the underlying theme behind the Xlibris novel, The Superhero’s Closet.

It is undeniable that the superhero genre is probably the hottest thing to hit pop culture today, considering the recent successes of movies and television shows leaning toward this theme. The desire to possess and control superpowers leads us mere mortals to fantasize through cult favorites like the X-Men and the Justice League, and to religiously follow the adventures of Claire Bennet, the Petrelli brothers, and Sylar of Heroes fame.

Man’s obvious fascination with superheroes and their day-to-day exploits is the same attraction that is present in the Xlibris release, “The Superhero’s Closet”.

Written by self-published author in Australia Andrew Lynch, The Superhero’s Closet presents a new perspective in the superhero narrative. It tells the story of several people who possess different superpowers but have different ways of dealing with these, as well as with a society that has consciously or unconsciously given them an unwritten moral duty to manifest their powers anytime a “regular” person asks for their help.

The Superhero’s Closet also focuses on the personal struggles of the main characters who have yet to deal with their respective powers. The hero of the story is Geoffrey Gilman who hung up his cape and tights to live a so-called “normal life,” only to let his superpowers resurface in an incident that took him out of retirement. There are others like him who are either just learning to control their powers, or are making a huge effort to stay out of the limelight upon finding out about their powers.

The story of The Superhero’s Closet is much darker, yet, it reveals the more “human” side of the main characters. In essence, they become tangible, flawed figures who – just like ordinary people – also have to cope with issues, problems, and stress. Instead of being depicted as demigods, they take on the position as your average Joe, making them much easier to relate to.

About the Author

If there is an existing list of all superhero fans, then H. Andrew Lynch would be in it. For the past 35 years, he has read and collected thousands of superhero comics purely for the joy of it. This fascination of his has led him to pen up to three manuscripts, all dealing with superheroes. However, he discarded them all when he decided to come up with his big superhero tale, The Superhero’s Closet.

Lynch was also a frequently-published horror and sci-fi short story writer in the 1990s. He resides in San Francisco.

Financial Freedom for Approaching Retirees Explored in Xlibris Book

People nearing their retirement years can learn much from the Xlibris book, The 5$ Cup of Coffee is Ruining My Retirement, as it preaches on the essentials of saving, spending and investing.

How much should one save to live a comfortable life in retirement? How can savings be attainable this if daily activities constantly need financial attention? What can one do to maximize a retirement plan?

Engineer turned millionaire, Paul Scheiner answers these questions and much more in The 5$ Cup of Coffee is Ruining My Retirement, a retirement planner that urges those nearing their senior years to spend less, save more and invest wisely.

This Xlibris book covers topics on reducing wasteful expenses, investing basics and regulating ones daily activities to fit one’s fixed earnings. The 2008 financial crisis has put a dire strain on the whole country and those living from a predetermined income, particularly pensioners, have more reason to seriously consider drastic lifestyle adjustments if they wish to survive in the later years of their retirement.

It was during one morning when Scheiner noticed the queue at a high-priced coffee shop that brought on the idea that it was habits like purchasing a 5$ cup of coffee that was making planning for and living on a retirement, very difficult for some individuals.

Scheiner urges, “There is plenty of hope, no matter what your present financial situation. Don’t get discouraged. But you must start now!” Readers will certainly benefit from grabbing a copy of this self-published title and begin studiously planning for that seemingly farfetched financial freedom.

Judy Snider launches Goldy’s Baby Socks jazz video on YouTube..

Children’s book author, Judy Snider, wanted to put a serious author interview on her website for her children’s picture book, Goldy’s Baby Socks, but the urge to be zany took over.  Since the humorous and heartwarming book tells about a family that adopts a cat and the fun and sleepless nights that follow, Snider decided to tell the story of the book in a blues song, dressed up as an orange “jazz cat.”

Snider hoped that the video clip would make people laugh as well as learn about her book.  Besides her website, it has been posted on YouTube, and the favorable comments certainly not given Snider the blues.

The book is self-published in Spanish last Fall.  In the meantime, Snider is hoping her website address is spread around the world.

Published Book Features President-Elect Obama as the Choice of the World

Filed Under (Autobiography) by Gianna on 05-11-2009

A self-published book author publishes an analysis of different worldwide undertakings and statistics pointing to the fact that President Obama is not only president of the US, but of the world.

Philip Ephraim publishes how the world outside the United States influenced the results of the 2008 American elections in his self-published book ‘Barack Obama, The Audacity of Being a Global President’.

The book author presents statistical analysis and worldwide events that point to the fact that big and small countries all over the world, enemies of America included, want Obama to emerge as the 44th president of the United States.

Ephraim explains how world economic borders are collapsing, making more and more countries allied with the US.  The author also underscores that people all over the world are hopeful that Obama will make diplomacy a priority, double foreign assistance, build healthy and educated communities, develop markets and reduce poverty.

Philip Ephraim quotes President-elect Barack Obama in his victory speech: “And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces, to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of the world, our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand. To those who would tear the world down: We will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security: We support you.”

Obama is not only “president of the country, but of the world,” Philip Ephraim says.  “The world likes Obama and wanted him to win.”

The book author owns Innovative Ventures Group in Philadelphia.  He was formerly a Senior Librarian at the University of Calabar and is a consultant to the African Development Bank and Bobel International and Associate Ltd.

Ephraim has written extensively in international journals.  He is also the author of Barack Obama, The Audacity of Inspiring the World.  His books are published by Xlibris.

R. Winn Henderson shares all the program’s messages in Share Your Mission, Vol 4

A popular radio talk show program turned into book form in this Xlibris release

Based on the international radio talk show Share Your Mission, this Xlibris release was heavily inspired by the people who bring the show to life. A weekly program dedicated to helping out lost souls and individuals, Share Your Mission began in 1998 as a method of promoting personal happiness and success as an outreach of The Recovery Group which the author himself is the founder.

Self-published author Dr. Henderson claims that the most effective way to gain knowledge and understanding is by learning through the experiences of other people. Sharing Your Mission asks four important questions to the individual such as Who Am I, Where Did I Come From, What Am I Doing Here and Where Am I Going When I’m Done. Dr. Herderson believes that a person can find his own mission through these four questions so that he, too, can be truly happy and successful.

Sharing Your Mission relies heavily on the story of the guests who participated in the show. Guests who shared their messages in this book voiced out diverse thoughts and challenging roles they demonstrate to society. These guests are people who are willing to be of service to others and Dr. Henderson plays heavy emphasis on that philosophy.

Dr. Winn Henderson, a medical doctor with over twenty years of clinical experience, co-authors this inspirational book about the four questions with answers that apply to your personal achievement.

Self Published Author Gives Practical Tips on Preventing Spread of Viral Diseases

Filed Under (Health) by Gianna on 23-09-2009

With most of the world getting wary of the swine flu outbreak, one can just wonder if it is only a matter of time before they too can be infected by the H1N1 strain of the swine influenza virus.

Recent reports have indicated that locations as remote as China, Mexico, Colombia and New Zealand have either had confirmed cases of the swine flu or are already affected by the looming threat of the virus. In the United States, cases of H1N1 flu virus outbreaks have been reported in the state of Wisconsin, while the state of Minnesota is awaiting for confirmation of suspected cases.

This is not the first time an influenza scare has taken a grip of global awareness. A few years back, the world faced the threat posed by the avian influenza virus or the H5N1 flu strain. In much the same way, the swine flu has put people in a state of awareness and fear of catching the virus. However, the same preventive measures used against the avian flu can be used in preventing the spread of H1N1 virus.

Aside from the obvious use of vaccines against the swine flu virus, health experts have recommended practical methods such as the washing of hands with soap and water in preventing the spread of the virus.

In the book ‘Health Lifelong Project: With Healthy Recipes, Beauty Secrets, and More’, author Marina Marcetic presents several preventative measures that solves health problems with natural cures. She shares her knowledge of natural products and cures that were collected from her education and experiences around the world.

Marcetic suggests that “eating right and using alternatives, such as natural cures, does not have to be expensive or complicated. Whether we realize it or not, most of us have kitchen stocked with food. All we have to do is prepare and eat them properly to protect ourselves from illnesses and give our body more energy and a healthy glow.”

Although the H1N1 strain vaccine is still in development, boosting the human immune system through natural and alternative methods can help fight the swine flu virus or any other diseases that may threaten the human body.

The book author adds that, “vitamin supplements are certainly useful. However, in this book I will show you a simple, healthful, time-tested ways to protect yourselves from diseases and nourish your body to stay fit and beautiful.”

Health Lifelong Project is a self-published book, which Marcetic hopes will enable the readers to discover some alternatives, natural practices, and ideas to enrich their own life and overall health. Whether preparing preventive measures against the swine flu or just simply boosting one’s health, this book is a practical guide in finding inexpensive and natural ways to ward off viruses and diseases.

Health Lifelong Project is published by Xlibris.

Xlibris author gives a spiritual guide on India’s cultural activity

SUMMARY
21 Days in India is a journal from self-published author who is convinced that that there is more to India that meets the eye

BODY

When tourists travel on foreign lands, they arm themselves with maps of the city and hope to help the economy with their retail therapy. It is quite different with David Carducci’s case because bringing home souvenirs was not the first thing that came to his mind when he travelled to India.

David Carducci self-published his book and fashioned it after the journal entries he made of his experiences for twenty-one days with the beautiful continent. His fascination with the ancient teachings of the Indian spiritual masters and his friendship with a wise Indian sage Surendra Vishwas enlightened his whole grasp of the Indian culture. Revelations of his social commentaries are patented in 21 Days in India and episodes of his adventures explain supernatural, paranormal and the unknown events that can only transpire in the continent.

“Of course, I did not know it at the time, because God and the Truth (one and the same as Gandhi would say), works in mysterious ways,” claimed self-published author of his new findings. Despite the cultural war now between India and Pakistan, David Carducci documented in his self-published book that India is capable of sharing spiritual enlightenment and cosmic energy that can perhaps alleviate all the bad activity the countries are constantly balling at each other.

Surendra Vishwas said, “You should simply spend 24 minutes of each 24 hour day in quiet meditation. You cannot achieve it by anything I say to you or anything that you read. Speeches and books are just words. It takes practice to achieve the goal.” David Carducci spent 21 Days in India to accomplish such goal.

Author Shares Triumphant Battle against Compulsive Gambling in Self Published Release

Filed Under (Self-help) by Gianna on 20-08-2009

Tagged Under : , , , , , , ,

Compulsive gambling, also known as gambling addiction, is a type of impulse-control disorder. Unlike alcohol or drug addiction, compulsive gambling does not manifest any obvious physical symptoms, making this condition also known as the ‘hidden illness’.

Compulsive gamblers find it extremely difficult to control their urge to gamble. Gambling is all they could ever think about and want to do, even when it is already taking a toll on their loved ones, their work or their finances. Broke or not, depressed or happy or even when the stakes are not in their favor, people who are affected with compulsive gambling just cannot seem to stay out of the bet.

Compulsive gambling can cause relationships with loved ones to suffer, wreak havoc on responsibilities in the home or at work and drag you to financial burden. It is estimated that women make up 1/3 of the population who are compulsive gamblers and it continues to rise at present.

Women Overpowered by Compulsive Gambling is published by Xlibris.
